First Time Order Suggestions

NOTE: The easiest thing to do is to order one of the "bundles". The bundles include everything you need: batteries, software, accessories, etc. (Also, the bundles will give you the best value since they are discounted even further).

If you don't want to get a bundle, here is what you'll need for your first time order of any Mekatronix brand microcontroller, robot, or kit:

1. The Actual Item (microcontroller, robot, microcontroller kit, or robot kit)
2. The Communications Setup (an MB2325 and a C2325)
3. Any Extras that the Item requires (batteries, solder, A/C adapters, etc.)
4. The software you want to program with (This could be any of the free & commercial languages listed) and any extra add-on software and programs
5. Any other hardware add-on options you might be interested in adding.

Please Note: All the assembly and users manuals for the products you buy are to be downloaded from the web. If you wish to have an actual printed manual, you can purchase one for $19.95. ( It is the exact same manual that you would have downloaded from the web).

For the Mekatronix brand robot kits:
TA stands for Totally Assembled and means the product is assembled, tested and ready to use.

QA stands for Quick Assembly and means the product is made so it can be quickley assembled. All you need to do is plug parts in and screw the parts together. You can get this in unassembled or assembled form. This is most popular with teachers who need the robot for a new class year semester.
PA stands for Partially Assembled and means the robot's microcontroller is assembled, tested and ready to use, but you still have to assemble & solder the rest of the kit and do the hacks.
XU stands for eXpert Unassembled and means the product is totaly unassembled, nothing but the parts.

For instance: You decide you want to buy a partially assembled TJ Pro robot (TJ-PRO-PA) and it's your first purchase:

1.
TJ-PRO-PA: This kit comes with the microcontroller already assembled and tested. You have to glue the body, make the cable connectors, hack the servos & sensors, solder the switches & resistors.

2.
MB2325a:
Assm&tested serial brd; Remember, this is required for your first robot, but can be shared with other robots. This is the com board that connects your PC to the TJ (and any of Mekatronix's other products). It plugs into the back of your PC.
C2325: 6-Wire Serial Cable: 6 ft; This cable goes from the com board to TJ's microcontroller. You can make it yourself or buy it from us.
Serial Modem Cable: This is ONLY needed if you don't have a DB25 serial connector on the back of your computer (Most laptops & Macs will need this cable).

3.
AANCSB6:
Six AA rechargable batteries, you must use Ni-Cad rechargable batteries on the TJ.
BC12A500: A/C adapter for Robot's internal battery Charger: 12v DC @500mAh; This is for convenience. It allows you to charge the batteries while they are still in the TJ.

4.
ICC11w:
C-Compiler & IDE W95&W31 v5, This is if you want to program in C and have your instructions compiled. (Commercial and widely used)
&
PROCCED02: TJ Pro ICC11 C Software Samples, Source Code & Tutorial, (A must have for beginners) (Commercial and widely used)
OR
sBASIC:
sBASIC compiler; good for those who know basic and not C or Assembly language. (Freeware)
OR
IC-S:
Interactive C is a C interpretor. This is if you want to program in C and you are a beginner in the C language. (Commercial and widely used)
&
PROICED01: TJ Pro Interactive C Software Samples, Source Code & Tutorial, (A must have for beginners) (Commercial and widely used)
OR
PROGO: Sentence-based language for the TJ Pro.
This is great for beginners! (Requires Interactive C { I.C. freeware or commercial I.C.} (Commercial and widely used)
OR
Assembly Language: (Freeware and widely used)

5.
Extra Add-On Options: InfraRed remote control module, Tower sensor attachment, line following module, Color mini wireless camera, InfraRed signal decoding software, AI software, Extra servos, etc.

For instance: You decide you want to buy an unassembled MEKAVR and it's your first purchase:

1.
Part#
MEKAVR128-KIT

2.
Part# MB2325a:
Assm&tested serial brd; Remember, this is required for your first TJ.

3.
Powersource

6 AA Nicad Batteries with a battery holder is recommended but Individuals can also connect up their own 6-7volt DC power supplies. The board will work better with the NiCd batteries when servos are driven by the processor (unless your own DC supply can handle motor surge currents).

4.
Extra Add-On Options: sample software, switch and accessory board

.

For instance: You decide you want to buy an assembled Mind Stamp Microcontroller System (MSMS11a) and it's your first purchase:

1.
